Bento #43

This is J's after school snack for today. Blueberry and tortillas with shredded cheddar cheese.

I cut a piece of tortillas in to halves, place half piece onto a nonstick pan and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and heat over medium. I cover the pan so the cheese will melt faster. When most of the cheese melted, I placed another piece of tortillas on top of the cheese and pan fry both side. When it's ready I use a scissors to cut into smaller pieces so can fit into the lunch box.

Bento #8

This week theme in J's sch is Lion. I tried to make a lion with pancake and cheese but I don't know how to make the face, ended up looks more like a pig face. To match with the theme I used a lion food pick for the blueberries.

Today's snack consists of blueberries, sweet corn and pumpkin pancake.

Bento #6

I used the animals cutters hubby got from Taiwan to make koala bear and giraffe corn bread. I buttered the bread and put in sliced cheese for the bread. I made use of pancake and sliced cheese to create an elephant as part of the deco for today's snack box. I don't have enough space for the quail eggs in the box so try to squeeze them in between the food. As no elephant food pick or fork is used for today's snack, I used an elephant printed divider. Just want something to match this week's theme in school. I got some pomelo in the silicon cup for today's fruit.

Soy Pancake

Have been making soy bean milk on weekends recently, I read that the residue of the soy bean (okara) can be used in cooking and baking. I kept the okara in fridge and tried using them to make soy pancake this morning.

I used a star-shaped silicon mold to make the star soy pancake. I spread sesame butter onto the soy pancake and decorated it with chocolate chips for the eyes and cheese as the mouth.

The soy pancake as the main dish, laughing cow cheese and homemade yogurt as side dishes.

Bear Breakfast

I tried using the silicon mold for pancake again as I did not really do it well the last time. I tried the bear mold for the first time. The mold can be used for pancake or egg, I tried it on beaten egg the last time, very easy to do. It's tricky for pancake as the consistency of the pancake batter has to be right, so do have a nicer pancake without it going burnt or not well-cook.

We got the kueh balu from JB Jusco, hubby's family like it very much. It's nice and cheap. Decorated the bear's face with cheddar cheese, got the cheese flower ears using small cookie cutters, got the cheese eyes with straw. The size of the straw is just nice for eyes. The Hello Kitty container consist of maple syrup. This breakfast is for hubby to bring to work.

Simple Breakfast

This morning going for early workout with SH, made this simple breakfast for hubby and J incase they feel hungry before I am back. I made use of the bird-shaped and heart-shaped silicon mold for today's breakfast.

Heart-shaped eggs and bird-shaped egg with pancake on top.

Snack

Prepared a snack bento for J as he had a light lunch. Made him a penguin waffle using pre-mix pancake mix. The waffle turned out soft as I add a thin slice of cheddar cheese before the batter is cooked. The penguin's face features are not obvious.

Right: Heinz Juice agar agar with grapes in the orange dish cup. Blueberries in the green dish cup.
Left: Penguin waffle with cheddar cheese filing. Apricot jam for the waffle in the Hello Kitty case
