Hot Cakes

Recently bought a pack of hot cake pre mix from Japanese food section at NTUC. Tried to make hot cake with the silicon moulds I got from 100 Yen shop at KL last month. The pre mix makes nice hot cake and the silicon moulds makes pretty hot cakes. Quite happy with the end result.

In case you are wondering what kind of premix I'm using, I just took a pic of it.

Class Party II - Party Food

This is the party food I prepared for my boy to bring to school to share with his friends. I usually bake small cakes for them. This time I made this cornflakes in mini cups for them. I bought some shapes sprinkles quite some time ago but didnt make use of it. This time I used it in the cornflakes to make it look more interesting.

Class Party

J has class party every month. The children are suppose to bring along a plate of party food to share with their friends. Beside preparing the party food, I will usually also bake cookies for the children to bring home. I find that it's more like having a party with a goodie bag. Just finished baking these cookies for Thursday's party. I'll usually bake the cookies few days beforehand and then prepare the party food on the day before the party.

I usually bake bite size cookies. This time I decided to use a bigger cutter and made used of the food markers I bought recently to decorate the cookies.

I packed them into cookie bags for each child. Hope the children will like these cookies.

Baked 'Fried' Chicken

I tried a recipe I read from Kitchen Capers forum. It used oven to bake chicken but gives fried chicken texture. It's easy to do and nice to eat and don't feel so guilty since no oil is used.

Sponge Cakes

I attended a cake baking workshop last Sunday by Gina, Kitchen Capers. Tried to do what I've learnt. But I modified the recipe. As I have remaining self raising flour so I made used of self raising flour instead of plain flour in Gina's recipe, also tried to use shredded cheddar cheese. But I think I added too little cheese, cant really taste the cheese in the cake but the texture is very soft. I made used of my cute silicon moulds for the cakes.

Mickey Mouse and Tomica Car sponge cake

I poured the remaining batter into a loaf pan to bake this

Nian Gao

I went to learn making nian gao from Gina, at Kitchen Capers. So made use of what I learnt for this year's Chinese New Year.

I bought 2 sizes of boxes to pack the nian gao as gifts for relatives and friends. This is the small box. Forgot to paste the 'fu' sticker in the center of the box before I take pic.

This is the larger box. Somehow the colors look lighter in pic, the actual thing look brighter colors.
