More Silicon Molds

After trying out the silicon mold for pancake, I like it so much that I went to Daiso to get more of it. I grab the rest of the designs they have. The last time I went I saw star mold, but could not find it yesterday. Guess it's sold out. Find their items can be out of stock quite fast.

I got the heart-shape, bear-shape and bird-shape silicon molds. It can be used for either pancakes or eggs.

Train Pancake

Got a train-shaped pancake / egg mold, so made use of it to make breakfast for hubby. It's easy to clean as it's silicon material so the batter do not stick to the mould. I need to trial & error few pancake before I can get a nice train. The batter must be watery enough so it'll be easy to pour into the mould.

Silicon Mold from Daiso. Can be used for egg or pancake

Breakfast to Work

Prepare a breakfast bento for Mr J to bring to work, tried out the newly-bought egg cutter. It has 2 ways to cut the egg. I used the knife that's provided to have an egg that looks like a flower.

'Flower' hard-boiled egg. The egg yolk is not at the center of the egg, so does not look very nice. Steamed 'man tou' with nori, tulip sausage. The yellow container consist of dark soy sauce for the egg, Hello Kitty container consist of apricot jam for the 'man tou'.

This is the egg cutter I used. Got it from Daiso, find it's a good buy.

Family Breakfast

Could not get to sleep after I woke up early this morning, so decided to make us breakfast while the Daddy & Son is still in dreamland. I used the new Mickey box from Mini Toons. I like the box because it look exactly like the bigger lunch box we got in Japan, except the one from Japan is without compartments. The Hello Kitty bento is newly bought, it is actually a 2-tier bento with matching chopsticks and pouch.

3 bentos consisted same varieties of food. Edamame, heart-shaped and star-shaped hard boiled egg, tulip cheese sausages and muffin bread under the sausages. The 2 pink and blue Hello Kitty container consist of apricot jam for the bread.

Trying Out New Stuff

Bought a packet of Udon and the Edamame (the kind we usually eat at Jap restaurant) so thought of making bento with them. Tried using the heart-shape egg mould to see if I can get a nice 'half-hearted heart'. I used a tulip wiener shaper for the cheese sausage, turn out nicer than the 1st time I tried using the wiener. The tip is use the wiener then boil the sausage, you get a nice tulip. Didn't know earlier the edamame is a no-need-to-cook food, just defrost it and can be eaten.

Snack

Prepared a snack bento for J as he had a light lunch. Made him a penguin waffle using pre-mix pancake mix. The waffle turned out soft as I add a thin slice of cheddar cheese before the batter is cooked. The penguin's face features are not obvious.

Right: Heinz Juice agar agar with grapes in the orange dish cup. Blueberries in the green dish cup.
Left: Penguin waffle with cheddar cheese filing. Apricot jam for the waffle in the Hello Kitty case

Right: Heniz fruit juice jelly with grapes, broccoli, cauliflower and carrot

Our Loving Dinner

Most of the nights Mr J will bring home dinner from the inlaws. This is what I did to the prepared dinner while he had his shower. He had a surprised when he saw them. Isn't is pretty?

My 1st Bento at Home

This is part of the bento I made for J's lunch. The elephant is the animal shape nori I got from Isetan Scotts, behind the elephant is broccoli. The features of the animals' face is made from nori and fish powder I got from Isetan Scotts.

Agar Agar

I made some agar agar using Heinz juice and grapes. Used the dish cases as cups for the agar-agar, thinking easy to handle and can put into lunch boxes if needed.

What I have (for now)

These are some of the stuff I have that I used to create my bento.
