Bento #86

Nowadays I made sandwich on every Saturdays. It's the easiest and fastest food to make as snack for Justin before we go out. So far no complains from him. Today I made sugarbunnies and cats with different faces.

The snack consists of strawberry jam sandwich and almond jelly.

Bento #85

J having his field trip on Friday afternoon. I prepared these for J before we left for his field trip. The school do provided snack so the lunch box is for him to have it on the way home.

The lunch box consist almond jelly, pasta, parmesan cheese in the bear container, carrots. I told J I made the carrots into 'satay'.

Bento #63

Prepared this as J's dinner last Thursday. I made almond jelly in the afternoon and by the time to pack his lunch box, the jelly is done. His dinner consist of mixed grain rice which is under the minced meat and mushroom, broccoli and almond jelly. The watermelon is his after school snack for J to munch on the way home.
I packed the dinner in a Snoopy bento box with thermal bag, one of my favourite collection.

Jelly

I made these for J's upcoming snack, so that I have something else to alternate with fruits. I got those pre-mix almond jelly powder. i prefer to use silicon jelly as the jelly will be easy to remove from the molds. The blue and pink 4 in 1 molds are from Daiso which I got recently. I like the size of the molds as it give me bite sizes jelly.

Animals with Cute Food Picks

Prepared this breakfast for hubby to bring to work. Try to find a chance to use the cute food picks I bought few weeks ago, I used the zoo animal food picks. I also have the sea animals food picks, maybe will use them the next time.

Top: bread rolled with cheese sausage and secure with food picks.
Bottom: agar agar with grapes, made the agar agar with Heinz fruit juice. Edamame, hard boiled egg and soy sauce in the small bottle

I got this 2-tier lunch box when we went to a tourist attraction in Japan last year. It has a compartment for cutlery. I put a spoon in the compartment so can use it for the agar agar.

Lunch

J & ZY is meeting today for their weekly gym session, so thinking of preparing animal shaped pasta as ZY hv yet to try such pasta before. I decorated the hard boiled egg with nori that I used a craft puncher. It's actually a musical note, but realised looked like eyes after I took the picture.

Top bento
Left: hard boiled egg. i removed the egg yolk, mix it with mayo and filled into the egg again so to be different from usual; decorated with nori. Edamame in the blue container. Almond jelly.
Right: Animal shaped pasta with powdered cheese, topped with nori and bonita flakes. Steamed carrots

Trying Out New Stuff

Bought a packet of Udon and the Edamame (the kind we usually eat at Jap restaurant) so thought of making bento with them. Tried using the heart-shape egg mould to see if I can get a nice 'half-hearted heart'. I used a tulip wiener shaper for the cheese sausage, turn out nicer than the 1st time I tried using the wiener. The tip is use the wiener then boil the sausage, you get a nice tulip. Didn't know earlier the edamame is a no-need-to-cook food, just defrost it and can be eaten.

Shinkansen Lunch box
Right : Edamame with a piece of carrot, pumpkin hide behind animal shape nori
Left : Heart-shape egg, sausage, udon with fish and carrot is behind the sausage

Both lunch boxes consisted same food

Snack

Prepared a snack bento for J as he had a light lunch. Made him a penguin waffle using pre-mix pancake mix. The waffle turned out soft as I add a thin slice of cheddar cheese before the batter is cooked. The penguin's face features are not obvious.

Right: Heinz Juice agar agar with grapes in the orange dish cup. Blueberries in the green dish cup.
Left: Penguin waffle with cheddar cheese filing. Apricot jam for the waffle in the Hello Kitty case

Lunch Box for 2

These are bentos I just made this morning. Shinkansen lunch box is for J and Hello Kitty lunch box is for his cousin.
Left: Fish (forgot to decorate it with a animal shaped nori), rice with spinach
Right: Heniz fruit juice jelly with grapes, broccoli, cauliflower and carrot

Agar Agar

I made some agar agar using Heinz juice and grapes. Used the dish cases as cups for the agar-agar, thinking easy to handle and can put into lunch boxes if needed.
